ABOUT

Serious Business is a playful electro-pop-rap duo intent on coloring outside the lines. Jason Mampel provides a spectrum of analog synthesizers to beat heavy rhythms, accompanying his unique vocal style and Danny Diana-Peebles' (AKA Neo G Yo) smooth rap. Their live shows are accompanied by Alex Boyce who provides live video programming. DJ Koolaid has recently begun conducting business with them, adding his skills and energetic energy to their already hyper, infectious performances.

Serious Biz has shared the stage with such national acts as Rye Rye, Ninjasonik, Japanther, Big Freedia, Flosstradamus, Jaguar Love, their own smiley face flag, and many local PDX greats including Guidance Councilor, Strength, Atole, and Breakfast Mountain.

Their long awaited debut album ‘Kool’ will be arriving December 8th 2011 on Futro Records. The album  features collaborations with fellow Futro Record artists Winston Lane, Stacy Peltier (of Starlight & Magic), and C Bag (of Sistafist). Co-produced by Karl Kling of RAC.

"[RETRO DANCE POP] The Faint and LCD Soundsystem may have made it OK to write party anthems about tricky sexual politics, but Portland's Serious Business is taking that torch and running with it-and injecting some lo-fi fun into the mix." -Music Fest North West
