It was an exciting weekend for us. We played an epic house show @ Tim John's house with Procedures, Starlight&Magic, and Neo Lane. It was probably my favorite show so far, the crowd was eating it up and the energy was crazy. We unleased a cover of Purple Rain without ever practicing it and pulled it off. We saved Hot Damn for last and all shit broke
loose. Some babe had been trying to take my shirt off all night and our game of cat and mouse quickly turned into a shirt-ripping war with the entire front row shirtless. I wound up ripping off the dudes shirt in return and throwing it far into the back. He remained shirtless all night with the excuse he couldn't find where it had landed. awesome. The next day came quickly.
Our first visit to Vault studio, which will now be home to our first LP recordings started at 1pm. Lets just say, everyone was somewhat devastated from the night before. The Vault was super rad though. Its literally an old vault in a giant brick building converted into art spaces. It was originally used to store fur coats. awesome. Matt, the sound engineer, turned out to be a really great guy with a great energy. He is just as fun-loving and juvenile as we are. Danny even ended up smoking out with him while mixing. We made great
progress on BFF Song and The Fever. We were able to capture the live energy of BFF Song well and added some fun ad-lib vocals. On a second listen, it needs a few more tweaks before we can send it over to the good people at PDXpopNow for our submission. When I moved to Portland I set a few goals which seemed far-fetched at the time; create a functioning music project, perform at Holocene, and be on the PDXpopNOW CD. Lets just say I feel closer now than I ever have. But I probably want it so much that it'll never happen. thats how life is. ha! But if it happens I can move onto the even more far-fetched goals...open for/tour with CSS and write a song with the Knife.
Yeah, I still dream big.
As always thanks to Chris Diana-Peebles for the amazing photos...
